Katharine D. Hellman grew up in New York City, where she attended the Brearley School grades K-12. She then went to Tufts University for her B.A. in English Literature. Katharine holds an MSW from Hunter College and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has worked as a school social worker at the Herbert G. Birch School for Exceptional children, an on-site play therapist at the Family Academy, and has maintained a private practice in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis with children and adults. She has completed a training in child therapy at The Harlem Family Institute, and a training in analytic psychotherapy at The Institiute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR). She is a member of the International Psychoanalytical Association.
