Kindergarten Readiness

May 6, 2016

In these groups we support skills children need for success in entering kindergarten.

Interacting with others
Controlling emotion/ self regulation/ impulse control
Separating from the parent

Kindergartens screen for children who can manage these challenges as well as demonstrate specific abilities, including: Following two-step directions, knowing his name and age, knowing basic concepts (colors and shapes, or letters and numbers), and the ability to listen to a story, identify the main characters and recount the story line sequentially. In our playgroups, we offer opportunities and support for solidifying these abilities, as well as for handling transitions, managing frustrations and sharing or turn-taking
